I am excited to hear what WATF has to offer. However I am not that impressed with Carly. In every interview I've seen of her, she makes it a point to mention that she is not happy and does not what to sing happy songs. That doesn't impress me.
As for TOD topic....yuck. I just tried, two weeks ago, to give it another chance (6th chance, i think), and I can't do it. It's awful. Ben was definitely the brains of that outfit. I have been listening to Ev since Origin came out in 2000. I go back about as far as someone can go without having lived in Little Rock. It's sad.

I read quite recently in an interview with Amy that there is very little chance of an earlier Evanescence song showing up on any new record. She said she wanted to leave the past behind, and I think she's right. I downloaded a couple of tracks from `Origin' and they're great so they don't need to be rerecorded. ::breathes deeply:: Because i have a limited audience here, and this topic pisses me off like NO OTHER, ima rant, but only because the clientele on this board seems a lot more intelligent than on EvBoard. Ben and Amy Hate each other. Yes, it's a harsh word to use, but it's true. They dated. They were Engaged. The relationship was abusive. it ended BADLY, but they were forced to stay in close quarters due to the band. they faked a brother/sister-like relationship but even in interviews if you watched closely enough you could see it peeking out. The FUSE IMX show is a greaaaat example of this. that whole interview you see them practically seething at each other. Fast forward to recent times: Any interview Amy does now, she pigeonholes Ben as a pop-writer with no creativity (in so many words). She says "Ben made us follow this formula of verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus" and It's so BORING! We're going in a new direction. a better direction! We're going to make a new sound!" Now, every few weeks/months or so a thread will pop up on EvBoard that says "OMG WHICH OF THE OLD SONGS DO YOU WANT THEM TO DO FOR THE NEW ALBUM" and then I freak out saying, you stupid stupid people, there's no chance in hell that Amy is going to take a song, 1. primarily written by a man she hates and 2. is written in that "boring" forumula she's been criticizing for ages. and redo it. You know why? Because it'll be amazing, stand out as different from her new style, give Ben the credit he deserves for being right, and She'd have to PAY him for it, since he wrote it. So, Hold tight to your copies of Origin, and to your demo recordings, lovies. It is the last you will hear of them. I am so never doing this rant ever again. I love this place. <3/Katie do you know for a fact that amy and ben were together and that it was abusive? on who's part, ben, amy, or both? i've had my hunches/suspicions for a while as well. pretty much agree with everything you're saying here and i also picked up on the 'hate' vibe during that interview. i also remember reading an interview where they asked amy if ben was the one who was abusing her and amy took in a long breath and bit her lip before saying that she didn't wanna talk about it. why else would she do that if he wasn't the abuser [i do wonder now whether she's as innocent as she portrayed herself to be, kinda doubt it]. didn't read through the whole thread, but i got to page 12 so i'm sure most if not all of this has been covered already. just wondering if you all felt the same way now about it as you did a few years ago....and whether there has been any definitive evidence brought forth that would support the abusive relationship claim. =) |

carly just needs to get comfy in front of the camera....she's really self conscious and it shows. that girl can def wail her ass off and she sounds even better LIVE. only a handful of artists you can really say that about too. i think she sounds like a cross between amy, ann wilson [heart], lisa guyer [godsmack - hollow], and joan jett. that is most def range right there. i agree with TOD statement too. ben WAS ev, amy was just along for the ride. even w/o amy i'd still listen to ben's music....of course i'd prolly listen to amy w/o ben too. too bad they couldn't work things out. maybe one day they'll all get together and just rip the world's face off.  sorry for the DP, hopefully you all can forgive me. =) |

LOL you're seriously bringing up something I said 4 years ago? 4 years ago when this topic of discussion was something I actually cared about? haha Of course I don't know for sure. The impression I always got was that they were really nasty to each other. I'm way over it though, so I'd rather drop the discussion. I don't think David would appreciate us talking about it, since he does lurk in this topic from time to time. |

well, Evanescence is in the studio now recording a new album to realease in this fall. Amy wrote with Will Hunt, the producer of Sally's Song, with Terry and Tim... and the producer is Steve Lilywhite who worked before with 30 seconds to mars, U2, Rollings stone, the solist album of some ABBA member, and more, and more.
